Contact: Tim Bagwell
Phone: 812 607-0721
U.S. House candidate Tim Bagwell will hold a press conference at 11:00am Wednesday September 29 in the Blue Room of the Illinois State Capital.
The news conference will be directed at issues of Congressional oversight of the Save-A-Life-Foundation (SALF), a high-profile Chicago area non-profit that since 2006 has been the subject of numerous media exposes.
Rep. John Shimkus has taken credit for arranging millions of federal taxpayer dollars to fund SALF. At the upcoming press conference, Bagwell will be asking Congressman Shimkus to initiate a federal investigation to determine if those millions – along with millions in Illinois state funds awarded to SALF - were improperly administered.

Dem Day Part II
Submitted by leo on Fri, 08/21/2009 - 9:57pm.Dem Day itself, that is Wed., Aug 19, consists of two key events: the County Chair breakfast and then the rally later in the day on the Director's Lawn in the State Fair grounds proper.
The first photo is of Gov. Quinn addressing the attendees at the County Chair breakfast. The second photo is Sec. of State Jesse White speaking later on at the rally -- under a tent for fear of rain. Happily the rain seemed more than ready to accommodate Illinois Democrats -- waiting till the event was well over before breaking loose in torrents.

Dem Day Part I
Submitted by leo on Fri, 08/21/2009 - 9:23pm.A couple of pictures of the festivities surrounding Dem Day at the State Fair. In this post, I have two photos from the night before, or in other words, Tuesday, Aug. 18.
The first shot is of Boone's Saloon (RIP). Alas! Despite the change in traditional venues -- and the fact that we're in an off-year, the Sangamon County Dems still drew a pretty good crowd for their annual meet-and-greet fundraiser (sorry, no photos).
Later on, (after a number of other events), there was the reception at the Governor's Mansion for County Chairs -- this time warmly hosted by Gov. Quinn. Although the event was hosted inside for fear of rain, I must complement the Guv's team on the wonderful quality of the Italian sausage and brats!
